All About The Mentor Coach

Start a Huddle with Athletes

WHAT IS A HUDDLE?

A Huddle is a ministry program where two or more coaches or athletes meet on a regular basis to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. We want to empower leaders to create an environment in the sports community where the Gospel is made known and lived out through intentional conversations. Our prayer is that these environments will help FCA coaches, athletes, and volunteers make disciples who make disciples.

WHERE DO HUDDLES EXIST?

Anywhere coaches and athletes are! On the field, at the track, on the mountain, in the pool … wherever coaches and athletes are, we believe Huddles can exist to help those coaches and athletes grow in a relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. Many are hosted before or after practices, before games or competitions, and on school campuses before school or at lunch.

E3 Discipleship

Disciples Making Disciples

coach huddling with team, hands together

As followers of Jesus, we have been called to be disciples who make disciples: “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations…” (Matthew 28:19a). As we follow Him, becoming more like Him every day, we also lead others towards Him. “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1). This is the win of FCA: disciples making disciples.

But how do we start this discipleship journey? Simple, we need a great game plan. FCA has a game plan for coaches and athletes who want to get started discipling others called E3.

How do we begin the discipleship journey? We engage, we equip and we empower, in that order.

Whether you’ve led others before and you’re looking for some additional training, or you’re just getting started, the E3 training gives you tangible steps you can take to start discipling others.

3 points of E3 Discipleship

We Engage relationally with others in a variety of environments by building genuine trust, sharing our lives, and sharing the Gospel. We strive to connect with coaches and athletes where they are at on their spiritual journey.

After cultivating relationships and once coaches and athletes come to faith in Christ, we want to
Equip them with Christ-centered training, tools, and ongoing support. We desire to Equip them with God’s Word so they can grow in Christ and help others know and grow in Him.

Once equipped, we
Empower coaches and athletes to help others experience salvation in Jesus, grow in their faith, and share Him with others. We desire to Engage, Equip, and Empower coaches and athletes to make disciples who do the same to others.
